Coop islands: members, roles and the things that go wrong
Skyblock is a considerably better game with two or three people than alone. Split the roles, farm in parallel, and the compounding curve moves much faster. The mechanics around it are also where most skyblock disputes come from, so read this before you invite anyone.
Members versus coop
Servers use the words differently. Broadly, a member is permanent and counts toward the island,
while a coop is a temporary trust that expires or can be revoked freely. Check which one
/is invite actually grants, because the difference decides what happens when someone leaves.
Member caps
Almost every server caps island members, commonly at three or four, and almost every server sells extra slots. That is worth knowing before your group of five picks a server. Caps sometimes rise with island level, which is a better design and a reason to check the unlock list.
Roles and permissions
Better implementations give per-role permissions: who can break blocks, open containers, use the island bank, invite others, kick others, and change settings. Set these on day one rather than after the argument. The permission that matters most is container access, because it is the one that lets a member empty the island.
What goes wrong
- The owner leaves. On some servers the island is deleted with them; on others ownership transfers. Ask which, because it is the single largest risk to a group island.
- A member is removed with items in their inventory. Those items usually leave with them. There is rarely any recourse.
- Shared money. If the island has a bank, treat it like a gang bank: know who can withdraw. If it does not, one person holds the money and that is a trust decision.
- Inactivity. Some servers delete islands after a period with no logins, counting only the owner. If the owner takes a holiday, the island can go.
Splitting roles well
One person on spawners and income, one on island level and building, one on the auction house. Rotate the daily votes so nobody forgets. It sounds bureaucratic for a Minecraft island and it roughly doubles your first week.

- Custom skyblock enchants and gear progression Server-added enchants sit on top of vanilla, and on skyblock they mostly exist to make farming faster rather than combat better.
- Skyblock resets: why they happen and when to join Skyblock progress compounds and entities accumulate, so resets are structural. Joining early is the biggest free advantage available.
- Skyblock farm designs that still work The five farm shapes worth building on a server island, and the one that will get you asked to take it down.
- Using the skyblock auction house properly The auction house is usually the highest hourly rate on the server and it needs no island at all.
